OVERVIEW
An orphan (she assumes) raised by bandits, Absinthe was named for the bottle of spirits her bandit uncles offered some poor displaced woman about eighteen years ago in return for taking the woman's youngest infant off her hands. Now grown, and seeing most of her old caregivers arrested or killed by first-level adventurer parties, she's struck off on her own and has travelled to the big city in search of her FORTUNE.
Absinthe has been in a campaign of Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, then an original storyline, though her canonpoints are either pre-campaign or after the WD:DH arc.

Appearance
A red Tiefling with green eyes.Horns | Upwards spiraling addax antelope horns.
Fashion | Wears black for practicality, but is easily swayed by colours and novel designs.
(Contains spoilers for the campaign Waterdeep: Dragon Heist.)
Absinthe grew up in Triboar, a small town in the Sword Coast region of Faerun (DnD 5e’s official setting). Adopted by a gang of bandits as a foundling, she helped her uncles and aunties rob caravans passing through on the way to larger cities by being very cute and posing as a distraction or bait. As the years passed, the caregivers who had raised her were either killed by low-level adventurers sent to apprehend them, arrested by cops, or struck out on their own after arguments over how to divide up bounty; the young Tiefling realised there was no future for her here, and one night stole as much as she could carry from the bandit gang’s hoard and took to the roads in search of a better life.
She traveled to Waterdeep City in the year 1492 DR where she swiftly found herself a small adventuring party. The party fortunately came upon ownership of a rundown manor house, which they worked to restore and eventually re-opened the tavern on the first floor. Absinthe herself made several friends in the city, including some drinking buddies among the nobility (whose exact identities will generally never be specified in RP to avoid potential backstory conflict with other DnD characters, but she did befriend Renaer Neverember in campaign! It was purely platonic CR, they’re drinking buddies.)
The party made a name for themselves among the various factions in Waterdeep, completing quests from the Emerald Enclave (not Absinthe’s thing), the Zhentarim mercenary network (Absinthe’s thing), and the Grey Hands (this one’s really complicated). Eventually, the party promised their help to the Casselanter noble family, heisting for them a great sum of money to save their children from a devil’s contract; they later found out that the Casselanters intended to kill 99 souls to fulfill the full contract and were the ones who sold their children’s souls for fortune in the first place. The party would cut ties with the Casselanters after this revelation and donate their cut of the profits to the city. (To avoid potential conflicts, I intend to avoid specifying whether the Casselanters succeeded or not, or that Absinthe’s party heisted Dagult Neverember’s half a million dollars to fundraise for this; in RP the story will go that her party did ~some kinda heist~ and contributed ~some of the money~ that was needed.)
Absinthe is Level 6 at the end of the WD:DH campaign, and feels like she’s doing alright- some partymates may be having emo monologues on the rooftop over being used, but they’ve earned the respect of several factions for their integrity still and have a good foothold in the city. They’ve just opened the tavern in their manor house to roaring success. Things are good! She’s definitely not gonna get dragged to the library and accidentally discover a whole new secret backstory or anything.
(She does, but we don't need to go into it.)
